I receive this tidbit from my brother (This is truly the logic of an Alcoholic) :
It has been scientifically proven that if we drink one litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than one kilo of E. coli bacteria found in water that contains feces. In other words, we are consuming one kilo of crap.
However, we do not run that risk when drinking rum, gin, whiskey, beer, wine or other liquors because alcohol has to go through a distillation process of boiling, filtering and fermentation.
It is my duty to communicate to all of you people who are drinking water, to stop doing so. It has been scientifically proven that it is unhealthy and bad for you.
THEREFORE - It is better to drink alcohol and talk crap than to drink water and be full of it !!!

The smallest package in the world
is an alcoholic all wrapped up in himself.
**********************************
A True Story:
After sharing my experience, strength and hope at an on-line meeting for the first time, I felt very much a part of the growing on-line world and proudly declared myself an official "cyber-drunk."
"That’s fine," an old-timer responded, "as long as you remember you’re not a virtual alcoholic." (Anonymous, New York)
************************************************
The lesson i must learn is simply that my control is limited to my own behavior, my own attitudes.
What have I done lately to learn more about the mystery of life? What is one thing I can do today?
The small angers the small.

It’s not easy to fight an enemy

Hope is the key that unlocks the door of discouragement.
I love being able to say, "I was wrong," or "I made a mistake,"

Sponsor to Sponsee: When you turn something over to God, say ‘Thank You’ right then. If you ask God’s help and then wait until you see the results to say thank you, you haven’t turned it over at all and our behavior hasn’t changed from the ‘Let’s Make A Deal’ that we
played when we were drinking, ‘If God does this, then I’ll do that.’"

Turn up a stereo to full volume then unplug it. In 2, 5,10 or 20 years later - if you plug it in again, the stereo will come on full volume. That’s what alcoholism is like.
I was a cook in the Army and was taught to "clean as I go." It has been my experience that this works just as well in my sobriety as it does in my kitchen!

Hewing Away
How to translate a right mental conviction
into a right emotional result, and so into easy, happy, and good living – well, that’s not only the neurotic’s problem,
it’s the problem of life itself for all of us who have got to the point of real willingness to hew to right principles in all our affairs.
Even then, as we hew away, peace and joy
may still elude us. That’s the place so many of us AA oldsters have come to. And it’s a hell of a spot, literally.
How shall our unconscious –from which so many of our fears, compulsions, and phony aspirations still stream —
be brought into line with what we actually believe, know and want!
Bill W., January 1958 c. 1990 The AA Grapevine, Inc., The Best Of Bill, pp. 53-4

The tenth step says, "and when we were wrong promptly admitted it." It does NOT say "and when you are right, shove it down everyone’s throat!"
"It has been my experience that where I get into trouble is when I use alcologic. You know what alcologic is, don’t you? That’s the uncanny ability to rationalize, justify and sometimes even sanctify every action, reaction or inaction taken in pursuit of pleasure, or avoidance of pain."
Striving for perfection is the greatest stopper there is.
It’s your excuse to yourself for not doing anything.

F.E.A.R.
False Evidence Appearing Real
What really made me uncomfortable when I first got to Alcoholics Anonymous was listening to y’all share. I knew that, like me, others have chapters in their lives that are never read . . . and as I sat in these rooms, you were sharing them OUT LOUD! What I know now is that is our experience, strength, and hope.
=====================================
When I am not in touch with my sponsor on a regular basis, I get
"sloppy thinking" . . . my brain can convince me that it is okay to
be "less than principled" in my actions . . . and THEN it can
convince me that "less than principled" is NOT the same as
"unprincipled." My brain can convince me that being "less than
honest" is not the same as being "dishonest" . . .
(As a friend of mine says, "if it didn’t need my body for transportation,
my brain would kill me!")
*******************************************************
"rarely" is what has allowed me to stay sober. Today I know that the reason the writer’s of the Big Book said "rarely have we seen" rather than "never have we seen" is because if they had said "never" I would have had to go out and prove them wrong. It’s just the kind of guy I am.
*************************************************
"I went to a Christmas Day open house at the home of a dear friend of mine that I’ve known since high school. It’s been a tradition for at least the last thirty years, and of course, there is a lot of alcohol served at each one of these gatherings. I’d only been sober about three months, and when I got there, a lot of people were quite lively from the Chrismas spirits. Then I spied two members of the old party crowd, and they looked quite serene. I guess your AA radar tunes in quickly in situations like that. They come over, noticed I was drinking a can of soda instead of my usual umpteenth glass of Cabernet, and asked if I was a friend of Bill. I told them I was, how many days I had, and they told me thay’d been in the program for over eight years. It’s nice to know that every crowd has its sober lining." —

And I can be pretty arrogant about demanding things from God. For example, I was in a traffic jam on the freeway on my motorcycle in the middle of a rainstorm. I was wet, I was pissed off, and I was hungry. I looked up and I yelled ‘God, if you exist, give me a sign!’ Just then, a Monarch Butterfly came flitting up through the traffic jam, landed right on the screen of my helmet and mwah!
